The history of our company

Parquet Böhm Sarl was founded by Otto Böhm in Trier-Ehrang in 1961. The growth and restructuring of the company saw Parquet Böhm become one of the leading flooring companies in Luxembourg. The company’s registered office is in Wecker. .

The beginnings of Otto Böhm

Otto Böhm successfully completed a 3-year apprenticeship as a joiner in 1953 and worked as a journeyman until 1961 at Schreinerei Streitz in Senningen.

After gaining his master craftsman title in joinery in 1961 in Luxembourg, Otto Böhm started his own company specialising in parquet and other flooring at his family home in Trier-Ehrang.

In 1968, customers appreciated craftsmanship and the garage quickly became too small, resulting in the company’s first shop in Trier-Ehrang, which mainly sold parquet, PVC and carpets.

In 1976, Otto Böhm returned to Luxembourg and opened a joinery right next to his family home in Grevenmacher to supplement the parquet installation business.

In 1985, the company’s first showroom was opened in Grevenmacher – a move that became necessary after the joinery had been destroyed by fire.

Thorsten Böhm joins the business

Otto Böhm&Fils Parquet Böhm s.a.r.l started trading in 1989.

In 1991, the founder’s son, Thorsten Böhm, started his apprenticeship in the company.

In 1992, the company attended the Luxembourg Autumn Fair for the first time, after which the workforce grew during the nineties from less than 10 to around 50.

Thorsten Böhm then became the new owner and Managing Director in 1995.

The company got new wind in its sails in 1998 when it rented a barn in Niederanven, which was carefully renovated and then opened as a new showroom. The new showroom also saw the product range extended with staircases and doors.

Munsbach

After 2 years of renovation and partial new build, we moved into our beautiful new showroom in Munsbach in 2004, where, in addition to parquet, we were also able to exhibit doors, staircases and terraces in a better location to make our customers even happier. However, this also led to this site simply becoming too small for us.

The company founder died at the age of 70 in 2005.

Synonymous with good quality and craftsmanship

The expansion of the product range to include doors, staircases and terraces meant that we were able to supply customers with many different products from a single source, a feature appreciated by customers which enabled the company to become synonymous with good quality and craftsmanship.

The production area and warehouse took up an enormous amount of space and the premises were bursting at the seams, forcing us to seek a new solution for our site.

Wecker

In 2010, we moved into our company premises in Wecker comprising over 1000 m² of showroom, offices, warehouse and, above all, our in-house joinery.

Overall, the new site covers an area of around 4000 m².

Having its in-house joinery also meant that Parquet Böhm could supply bespoke furniture and all other types of joinery work.

Massive success soon followed once again, leading to the next step.

Biwer

As our workshop in the building in Wecker became too small, we had to increase the size of our workshop.

Our new workshop in Biwer started operations in 2020, featuring modern machinery to make the production of premium bespoke furniture, staircases, etc. even more competitive. This is where we produce your dream homes on an area of 1600 m².

This is also where our new “LUXEMBOURG COLLECTION” was launched in 2020.

Using oak from Greater Luxembourg and a range of beautiful colours, formats and assortments created within the company, this regional product made by us and Made in Luxembourg is an outstanding success.
